“Divided” follows Philip Leclerc on a journey to find out why the church is loosing his generation. In the process he travels through the country and interviews experts in the field.
The music style choices for the film are varied and go beyond what might be expected for a documentary, borrowing more from a traditional motion picture style than a standard fair music bed. As with any film, the music has to support the story by not getting in the way of the story telling itself. However, a documentary by nature is story telling with a different methodology as it attempts to document some aspect of reality. Underscoring these aspects musically poses therefore a challenge of keeping the almost constant dialog in mind, while at the same time maintaining an interesting nature to the score. I truly enjoyed creating the music, which I will write more about in an upcoming post.
“Divided” has generated a lot of interest and will premiere at the upcoming San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival. The documentary will be released on November 1st on DVD.
